Toxic Habitat: Heavy metal impacts on water birds near NSW coal fired power stations

Toxic Habitat
presents the environment centre’s latest findings of environmental impacts caused by NSW coal-fired power stations, including evidence of heavy metal concentrations above safe thresholds in water bird feathers collected from three water ways affected by coal-ash contamination.

The coal-ash rehabilitation plans put forward to date by Origin Energy and AGL will not adequately protect local communities, waterways nor the abundant life and ecosystems they support from ongoing pollution impacts.

With the closure of coal power stations looming yet unpredictable, we must keep the pressure on power station operators to comprehensively decontaminate.
