The Squirrel Glider Show

This show was made possible by the generous contributions of Newcastle, Hunter and Lake Macquarie-based artists in support of the environment centre’s annual Gala Dinner fundraiser and Squirrel Glider Habitat Relief project.

A note on the auction

  • Funds raised from winning bids which exceed the stated value of each artwork, will be put towards the purchase of Squirrel glider food-tree saplings, to be planted at strategic sites across the Newcastle LGA in 2022 by community members participating in our Squirrel Glider Habitat Relief project.

  • The estimated, average cost per glider food-tree is $5

  • Gala diners and members of the public are invited to place bids from 5:30pm, Saturday May 28th. Bids will close on the night at 9:15pm, and reopen to the public on Sunday.

    This is a photograph of “Golden Wattle” (Acacia pycnantha) taken at “Golden hour” in Arcadia Park in Newcastle. They begin to bloom mid year, and are Australia’s National floral emblem. Squirrel Gliders are known to eat the green seeds of the wattle.
